Greek Mythology - The Odyssey

Chapter 1

In English

Odysseus (Οδυσσέας) had been gone for ten years. Now the Trojan War was over, and Odysseus and his companions were preparing for their return to Greece. The trip back though, would not be as quick and safe as they thought.

The gods were upset with many of the Greek kings because they killed innocent people and they burned temples. Athena was particularly upset, because a soldier tried to rape Cassandra in her temple, and the Greeks did not even punish him.
Even though Athena (Αθηνά) loved Odysseus very much, she was the one that originally started his troubles.

In the next chapters we'll see what happened to his family while he was gone, his adventures and his reunion with his wife and son.
