The First Battle
In EnglishMenelaus and Odysseus prepared to visit Troy. Priam heard that the Greek negotiators had arrived and arranged a meeting between them and the highest ranking civilians. Priam would be the leader of the negotiations for the Trojans. Menelaus spoke first. In plain words, he asked for his wife back and everything that Paris had taken from him. The Trojans heard Menelaus carefully. Most of them had already made up their mind. They would return Helen to the Greeks! Some of them though, had a different opinion. Paris, and some others, did not want to return anything or anybody to the Greeks. They even wanted to kill Menelaus. But Priam stopped them. Among the Trojans, in that meeting, was the foreteller Helinos. He got up and said to the Trojans not to be afraid of the Greeks, because many gods promised that they will help Troy. The Trojans believed what the foreteller said, and denied returning Helen. The Greek negotiators left Troy. The Trojans locked themselves in the city. Soon the battles would start... In GreekΟ Μενέλαος και ο Οδυσσέας ετοιμάστηκαν να επισκευτούν την Τροία. Ο Πρίαμος άκουσε ότι Έλληνες διαπραγματευτές είχαν φτάσει και κανόνισε μια συνάντηση μεταξύ αυτών και των αρχόντων. Ο Πρίαμος θα ήταν ο αρχηγός των διαπραγματεύσεων για τους Τρώες. Ο Μενέλαος μίλησε πρώτος. Με απλά λόγια, ζήτησε την γυναίκα του πίσω και όλα όσα είχε πάρει ο Πάρης απ' αυτόν. Οι Τρώες άκουσαν τον Μενέλαο προσεχτικά. Οι περισσότεροι είχαν πάρει την απόφασή τους. Θα επέστρεφαν την Ελένη στους Έλληνες! Μερικοί απ' αυτούς όμως, είχαν διαφορετική γνώμη. Ο Πάρης, και μερικοί άλλοι, δεν ήθελαν να επιστρέψουν τίποτα και κανένα στους Έλληνες. Ήθελαν να σκοτώσουν τον Μενέλαο. Αλλά ο Πρίαμος τους σταμάτησε. Ανάμεσα στους Τρώες, σε αυτή την συνάντηση, ήταν και ο μάντης Έληνος. Σηκώθηκε και είπε στους Τρώες να μη φοβούνται τους Έλληνες, γιατί πολλοί θεοί υποσχέθηκαν πως θα βοηθήσουν την Τροία. Οι Τρώες πίστεψαν ό,τι είπε ο μάντης, και αρνήθηκαν να επιστρέψουν την Ελένη. Οι Έλληνες διαπραγματευτές έφυγαν από την Τροία. Οι Τρώες κλειδώθηκαν στην πόλη. Σύντομα θα άρχιζαν οι μάχες...
