Perseus and Polydectes
In EnglishThe gods sent Athena and Hermes to help Perseus. Athena gave him a shield that was so smooth, you could see anything from it just like a mirror. Hermes gave him a sword that was so sharp you could cut steel with it. Hermes told him that he must find the Graeae (Γριές = Gries), and make them tell him the way to the Gorgons. The Graeae were three sisters. They were nymphs. They had gray hair and they were ugly. The three of them shared one eye and one tooth. When one of them had the eye the other two were blind. They knew the way to the Gorgons. Perseus did as Hermes advised him. He waited for night and he grabbed their only eye. The Graeae started to scream and they begged him to give them back the eye. Perseus then agreed to give back the valuable eye in exchange for their cooperation. He asked them to show him the way to the Gorgons. The Graeae agreed and Perseus returned the eye... Ο Ερμής του έδωσε ένα σπαθί που ήταν τόσο κοφτερό, που μπορούσες να κόψεις και σίδερο. Ο Ερμής του είπε πως πρέπει να βρει τις Γριές, και να τις κάνει να του πουν το δρόμο για τις Γοργόνες. Οι Γριές ήταν τρεις αδελφές. Ήταν νύμφες. Είχαν άσπρα (γκρίζα) μαλλιά και ήταν άσχημες. Και οι τρεις τους μοιράζονταν ένα μάτι και ένα δόντι. Όταν η μία απ' αυτές είχε το μάτι οι άλλες δύο ήταν τυφλές. Ήξεραν το δρόμο για τις Γοργόνες. Ο Περσέας έκανε όπως τον συμβούλεψε ο Ερμής. Περίμενε να νυχτώσει και άρπαξε το μοναδικό τους μάτι. Οι Γριές άρχισαν να ουρλιάζουν και τον παρακάλεσαν να τους δώσει το μάτι τους. Ο Περσέας συμφώνησε να δώσει πίσω το πολύτιμο μάτι με αντάλαγμα την συνεργασία τους. Τις ζήτησε να του δείξουν το δρόμο για τις Γοργόνες. Οι Γριές συμφώνησαν και ο Περσέας επέστρεψε το μάτι... Words you Need to Learn(+) Show or Hide the "Key"
