The Battle near the Greek camp
In EnglishThe Trojans were fighting with the Greek army close to the ships. Zeus stopped watching the battle, sure that no god will disobey his orders. Poseidon saw this and decided to give a hand to the Greeks. He took the form of the foreteller Kalhas, and was trying to encourage the soldiers to fight harder. The battle became tougher now for the Trojans. In the mean time, Aias the son of Telamonas and Aias of Lokrida (Λωκρίδα), with their soldiers were protecting the ships. The Trojans still were advancing towards the ships. Goddess Hera seeing that the Greek army was retreating slowly persuaded the god of sleep to put Zeus to sleep. Then she started to help the Greeks along with Poseidon. Like lions, the Greeks started to push the Trojans back. Zeus though woke up and saw what was happening. He ordered Hera to pull back. Both gods Poseidon and Hera left the battle. The king of gods ordered Apollo to go to the battlefield and scare the Greeks. So he did. The Trojans with the help of Apollo were, once more, winning. The battle was bloody. Many Greeks and also many Trojans were dead. Hector was close to the ships. He put fire to Protesilaos' ship. The two Aias' were not able to stop the force of the Trojans. With one ship burning and unable to defend the rest, the Greeks thought that they will lose the ships and the war. In GreekΟι Τρώες πολεμούσαν με τον ελληνικό στρατό κοντά στα πλοία. Ο Δίας σταμάτησε να παρακολουθεί την μάχη, σίγουρος πως κανένας θεός δεν θα παρακούσει τις διαταγές του. Ο Ποσειδώνας το είδε αυτό και αποφάσισε να δώσει ένα χέρι στους Έλληνες. Πήρε τη μορφή του μάντη Κάλχα, και προσπαθούσε να εμψυχώσει τους στρατιώτες να πολεμήσουν πιο σκληρά. Η μάχη έγινε πιο δύσκολη τώρα για τους Τρώες. Εν τω μεταξύ, ο Αίας ο γιος του Τελαμώνα και ο Αίας της Λωκρίδας, με τους στρατιώτες τους προστάτευαν τα πλοία. Οι Τρώες ακόμη προχωρούσαν προς τα πλοία. Η θεά Ήρα βλέποντας πως ο ελληνικός στρατός υποχωρούσε σιγά-σιγά, έπεισε τον θεό του ύπνου να κοιμήσει τον Δία. Μετά άρχισε να βοηθά τους Έλληνες μαζί με τον Ποσειδώνα. Σαν λιοντάρια, οι Έλληνες άρχισαν να σπρώχνουν τους Τρώες πίσω. Ο Δίας όμως ξύπνησε και είδε τι γινόταν. Διέταξε την Ήρα να αποσυρθεί. Και οι δύο θεοί, ο Ποσειδώνας και η Ήρα άφησαν τη μάχη. Ο βασιλιάς των θεών διέταξε τον Απόλλωνα να πάει στο πεδίο της μάχης και να φοβήσει τους Έλληνες. Έτσι έκανε. Οι Τρώες με την βοήθεια του Απόλλωνα, ακόμα μια φορά, νικούσαν. Η μάχη ήταν αιματερή. Πολλοί Έλληνες και επίσης πολλοί Τρώες ήταν πεθαμένοι. Ο Έκτορας ήταν κοντά στα πλοία. Έβαλε φωτιά στο καράβι του Πρωτεσίλαου. Οι δύο Αίαντες δεν ήταν ικανοί να σταματήσουν την Τρωική δύναμη. Με ένα πλοίο να καίγεται και ανίκανοι να υπερασπίσουν τα υπόλοιπα, οι Έλληνες νόμισαν ότι θα χάσουν τα πλοία και τον πόλεμο. Words you Need to Learn(+) Show or Hide the "Key"
