God Hades or Plutonas, brother of Zeus, is the god of the underworld. His
name spreads fear and panic to any mortal.
He controls the souls and the gods that live with him in the underworld.
The underworld is also known with the name Hades.
Down there are three rivers. Styx (η Στύγα = Styga), that gods
swore their unbreakable oaths to its cold waters, and the rivers Aherodas (Αχέροντας) and Coquitos (Κωκυτός). The entrance
of the underworld is secured by Cerberus (Κέρβερος),
a dog with three heads.
As you go deeper into the underworld you'll see
an old man, Charon or Harodas (Χάροντας). He's carrying the souls on his boat.
Another god that lives in Hades is god Death (Θάνατος). He is going up on
earth and takes the souls of the people. Always with him, are Kires (Κήρες),
that are glad when people fall dead in the battlefields.
There are also the Goddesses Furies (Εριννύες), and god Hypnos (Ύπνος
= sleep)
who closes the eyes of humans and gods alike and puts them to sleep.
The sun never shines in Hades' kingdom. Not even Hades' wife, Persephone
(Περσεφόνη), can stay down there all the time. The people hate it because they
know that the soul that will enter the underworld will never again see the light
of day...

Ο θεός Άδης ή Πλούτωνας, αδελφός του Δία, είναι ο θεός του κάτω κόσμου. Το όνομά του
σκορπίζει φόβο και πανικό σε κάθε θνητό. Ελέγχει τις ψυχές και τους θεούς που ζουν μαζί
του στον κάτω κόσμο. Ο κάτω κόσμος είναι επίσης γνωστός με το όνομα Άδης.
Κάτω εκεί υπάρχουν τρία ποτάμια. Η Στύγα, που οι θεοί ορκίζονται
τον αδιάσπαστο όρκο τους στα
κρύα νερά της, και οι ποταμοί Αχέροντας και Κωκυτός. Η είσοδος του κάτω κόσμου είναι ασφαλισμένη
από τον Κέρβερο,ένα σκυλί με τρία κεφάλια.
Όπως προχωρείς βαθύτερα στον κάτω κόσμο θα δεις έναν γέρο, τον Χάροντα.
Μεταφέρει τις ψυχές με την βάρκα του. Ένας άλλος θεός που ζει στον Άδη είναι ο
θεός Θάνατος.
Αυτός πηγαίνει πάνω στην γη και παίρνει τις ψυχές των ανθρώπων. Πάντα μαζί του είναι οι
Κήρες, που είναι χαρούμενες όταν άνθρωποι πέφτουν νεκροί στα πεδία μάχης.
Υπάρχουν επίσης οι θεές Εριννύες, και ο θεός Ύπνος που κλείνει τα μάτια των ανθρώπων και των
θεών και τους βάζει για ύπνο.
Ο ήλιος ποτέ δεν λάμπει στο βασίλιο του Άδη. Ούτε και η γυναίκα του Άδη, η
Περσεφόνη, μπορει να μείνει εκεί όλη την ώρα. Οι άνθρωποι το μισούν γιατί ξέρουν
πως η ψυχή που θα μπει στον κάτω κόσμο, δεν θα δεί ποτέ ξανά το φως της ημέρας...
