Greek Mythology - Gods & Goddesses

Ares - Ο Άρης

In English

Ares the god of war. He's the son of Zeus and Hera. Nobody liked the blood thirsty god. Not even his father Zeus loved him. Ares always has with him his sons, Phoebus (Φόβος = fear) and Demos (Δείμος = terror or panic), to spread fear and panic to the opponents. Also with him, is Erida (Έριδα = dispute) the goddess of dissension.

Ares likes war. He's a tough and excellent warrior himself, but he is not the winner all the time. He always looses to the goddess Athena. With her wisdom and calmness she is able, not only to defeat him, but she can give strength to some mortals to do the same.

Ares' wife is the goddess of beauty Aphrodite. She is helping her husband many times but as we said, if Athena is in the battle against him, Ares will be defeated...
