Artemis - Η Άρτεμη

In English    Artemis is Apollo's twin sister, daughter of Zeus and Leto. She was born on the island of Delos. Artemis is the goddess of hunting, and the flocks. She protects every animal on earth, wild or tame. Later she also became the protector of women ιn labor.    Artemis loves her brother Apollo, and both adore their mother Leto. She is forever young and beautiful and she's always carrying  with her, her golden bow, arrows and spear. She's always ready to do the thing that she loves the most; hunting. She's fast as the wind and she almost never misses her target.    Artemis is always accompanied by the nymphs. They run and they hunt all day. When Artemis gets tired she likes to go to the cool caves to rest. Albeit to the person that will disturb her...    Once upon a time there was a hunter name Akteonas (Ακταίονας), that went hunting with his friends. It was a sunny day and Akteonas and his friends were looking for a place to rest and cool off. Akteonas entered, without knowing, Artemis' cave. The nymphs got scared and they screamed. They surrounded Artemis so the mortal Akteonas could not see her. But Akteonas saw the goddess. Artemis, upset that he disturbed her, transformed him into a deer.    Akteonas scared of what was happening to him, started to run out of the cave.  His dogs saw the big deer. Not knowing that this deer was their owner, they chased him and killed him. Akteonas was the only mortal that saw in front of his eyes the beautiful goddess. He paid for that with his life... Top In Greek    Η Άρτεμη είναι η δίδυμη αδελφή του Απόλλωνα, κόρη του Δία και της Λητώς. Γεννήθηκε στο νησί της Δήλου. Η Άρτεμη είναι η θεά του κυνηγιού και των κοπαδιών. Προστατεύει κάθε ζώο στη γη, άγριο ή ήμερο. Αργότερα έγινε επίσης η προστάτρια των γυναικών που γεννούν.    Η Άρτεμη αγάπάει τον αδελφό της τον Απόλλωνα και οι δυό τους λατρεύουν την μητέρα τους την Λητώ. Είναι παντοτινά νέα και όμορφη και μεταφέρει πάντα μαζί της, το χρυσό τόξο, τα βέλη της και το δόρυ της. Είναι πάντα έτοιμη να κάνει αυτό που αγαπάει πιο πολύ; το κυνήγι. Είναι γρήγορη σαν τον άνεμο και σχεδόν ποτέ δεν χάνει το στόχο της.    Η Άρτεμη πάντα συνοδεύεται από τις νύμφες. Τρέχουν και κυνηγούν όλη την μέρα. Όταν η Άρτεμη κουράζεται, της αρέσει να πηγαίνει σε δροσερές σπηλιές να ξεκουραστεί. Αλίμονο στο πρόσωπο που θα την ενοχλήση...    Μια φορά ήταν ένας κυνηγός που τον έλεγαν Ακταίονα, που πήγε για κυνήγι με τους φίλους του. Ήταν ηλιόλουστη μέρα και ο Ακταίονας με τους φίλους του έψαχναν για ένα μέρος να ξεκουραστούν και να δροσιστούν. Ο Ακταίονας μπήκε, χωρίς να ξέρει, στην σπηλιά της Άρτεμης. Οι Νύμφες τρόμαξαν και φώναξαν. Περικύκλωσαν την Άρτεμη, για να μή μπορέσει να την δει ο θνητός Ακταίονας. Αλλά όμως ο Ακταίονας είδε την θεά. Η Άρτεμη, θυμωμένη που την ενόχλησε, τον μεταμόρφωσε σε ελάφι.     Ο Ακταίονας φοβισμένος από αυτό που του συνέβαινε, άρχισε να τρέχει έξω απ' την σπηλιά. Τα σκυλιά είδαν το μεγάλο ελάφι. Μη ξέροντας ότι το ελάφι ήταν ο ιδιοκτήτης τους, το κυνήγησαν και το σκότωσαν. Ο Ακταίονας ήταν ο μόνος θνητός που είδε μπροστά στα μάτια του την όμορφη θεά. Πλήρωσε γι' αυτό με την ζωή του...
