How to Use "I Learn Greek"

Please read these instructions carefully.

Casual Users

Users that want to learn a few words or sentences to communicate with Greek friends, click on the Dialogues Directory or the Vocabulary Directory to learn what you are looking for. We have also included a lot of other information in this web site. Check our mythology and our customs and traditions.

Experience in the Greek Language

If you know much about the Greek language, and you want to clarify some grammar subjects, then click on the Lessons Directory and choose the subject that you want. We also have a lot of other things that you might be interested in. Check the links in this page or the navigation bar on the left.

Beginners

If you are new or have little knowledge of Greek, please start from Lesson 1 of the Lessons and follow according to the lesson numbers (1, 2, 3, etc). Test what you have learned by taking the Tests for each lesson that you studied. At the same time you must start learning Greek words. Visit our Vocabulary Directory or the Word Games Directory to do so. Also click on the Dialogues Directory to learn complete dialogues or just phrases. We have added audio to the majority of the above directories to make it easier for you to learn! When you are done with the verbs section of our lessons it is a good idea to visit our The Way we Speak section. This section along with our dialogues will help you in sentence creation.
A great help is also our Mythology. It is written in English and translated into Greek. You can use it as a reading book, practicing with all the translation and the words that you have learned!
The vocabulary quizzes can test your knowledge of the basic vocabulary. Don't forget to use our dictionary or visit our customs and traditions section to learn about Greek celebrations, customs, name days, etc.

For Kids

For pre-school children, I Learn Greek.com just introduced Greek for Kids "Greek for Kids" has online Flash Cards to help children learn the basic words and soon to come arcade style flash games!
This section of our web site is the newest. Please be patient as we are adding more flash cards and Flash Games. The parents should help their pre-school children to login to the site. After that, everything is pretty easy for a child that knows how to handle the mouse.

This web site is kid safe. No bad words are used in our vocabulary. An older child should start with vocabulary and games as long as he/she can read English. We recommend that you start the children with regular grammar lessons after they finish the first grade in their Regular School. Parents should guide and explain to their children the lessons. We recommend starting them with simple grammar (alphabet, double letters, nouns) and vocabulary (animals, colors shapes) at the same time. When they reach the complicated sections of the grammar (verbs, conjugation etc) the parents should help them keep it simple. Greek parents should use this web site without stopping their church school program. As Greek parents, Tina and I, we continue to send our children to Greek school and we also guide them to use I Learn Greek.com.

This is not a web site that will teach you Greek in a few hours! We can not guarantee that you will learn the Greek language perfectly. The learning process is a very complicated and lengthy one.  You need to study. Do not expect to remember words and grammar rules if you do not use them. Remember, practice makes perfect.

Thank you for your support
