In English
The young hero entered Athens and everybody in the streets
admired
his beauty and his strong body. He went straight to the palace but he did not tell
his old father who he was. He said that he was a stranger in Athens and he asked
for protection.
Aegeas, all these years, had also married another woman. Her name
was Medea (Μήδεια). Medea realized that the young man was Aegeas' son. She
told the elderly king that this stranger was a spy, and she convinced him to let
her poison him. Aegeas believed her. They invited our hero to a dinner in the palace.
There, Medea would put poison in Theseus' wine.
Everything was set for the dinner. Theseus walked into the magnificent room
and before he sat, he took off his sword. The eyes of Aegeas shined, as he
recognized his sword, which many years ago he had placed under the big rock. He got up, walked towards
Theseus and looked at his feet...
It was his sandals! The stranger was his son!
With tears in his eyes he hugged his son, that he had not seen since he was a baby.
Aegeas announced to the people of Athens that his beloved son was there. Then he
chased away Medea and her son from the city. Everybody was happy but the happiness would
not last for long...
