Eurestheus had a daughter. Her name was Admete (Αδμήτη). Admete was the kind
of person that wanted everything. She asked her father to bring to her Hippolyte's belt.
Hippolyte was the queen of the Amazons. This belt was beautiful, and Hippolyte was
always wearing it.
Eurestheus told Hercules to go and bring the belt.
The Amazons were living in a place in Asia and were known for their warrior skills.
Hercules took many young men with him to help him.
After a difficult trip he arrived at the Amazons land. There, they prepared for war.
Hippolyte saw Hercules' camp and went there herself to see what was going on.
She asked Hercules, who is he and why is he there.
Hercules explained that he came to
take her belt and give it to the daughter of his king. Hippolyte told him that there is no need for war;
she would gladly give him the belt as a gift for the princess. She then invited Hercules
and his men to their city. There, they received great
hospitality from the Amazon women for many days.
Hera was watching with jealousy and anger. She transformed herself
into an Amazon and convinced the other Amazons that these men were here to capture their queen.
Hippolyte was with Hercules that day, and they were late. The
Amazons,
thinking that their queen was captured, attacked Hercules' men. Hercules found out what
was happening and believing that the Amazons' hospitality was fake, killed Hippolyte.
Then he started to shoot his poisonous arrows killing many of them.
He took the belt
of the dead queen and with his men left for Tiryns.

Ο Ευρυσθέας είχε μια κόρη. Την έλεγαν Αδμήτη. Η Αδμήτη ήταν ένας άνθρωπος που
τα ήθελε όλα. Ζήτησε από τον πατέρα της να της φέρει τη ζώνη της Ιππολύτης. Η Ιππολύτη ήταν η
βασίλισσα των Αμαζόνων. Η ζώνη αυτή ήταν πολύ όμορφη και η Ιππολύτη την φορούσε πάντα.
Ο Ευρυσθέας είπε στον Ηρακλή να του φέρει την ζώνη.
Οι Αμαζόνες ζούσαν σε ένα μέρος στην Ασία, και ήταν γνωστές για τις πολεμικές
τους ικανότητες. Ο Ηρακλής πήρε πολλούς νέους μαζί του για να τον βοηθήσουν. Μετά από ένα
δύσκολο ταξίδι, έφτασε στην χώρα των Αμαζόνων. Εκεί, ετοιμάστηκαν για πόλεμο. Η Ιππολύτη
είδε την κατασκήνωση του Ηρακλή και πήγε εκεί μόνη της για να δει τι συμβαίνει. Ρώτησε τον
Ηρακλή ποιος είναι, και γιατί βρίσκεται εκεί.
Ο Ηρακλής της εξήγησε ότι ήρθε να πάρει τη ζώνη της και να την δώσει στην
κόρη του βασιλιά του. Η Ιππολύτη του απάντησε,
ότι δεν χρειαζόταν να κάνει πόλεμο, ευχαρίστως
θα του δώσει τη ζώνη για δώρο στην βασιλοπούλα. Μετά προσκάλεσε τον Ηρακλή και τους άντρες
του στην πόλη. Εκεί οι Αμαζόνες τους φιλοξένησαν για πολλές μέρες.
Η Ήρα παρακολουθούσε με ζήλεια και θυμό. Μεταμορφώθηκε σε Αμαζόνα και έπεισε τις
άλλες Αμαζόνες, ότι οι άντρες αυτοί ήταν εκεί για να
συλλάβουν την βασίλισσά τους.
Η Ιππολύτη αυτή την μέρα ήταν με τον Ηρακλή, και είχαν αργήσει. Οι Αμαζόνες
νομίζοντας ότι η βασίλισσά τους ήταν
αιχμάλωτη, επιτέθηκαν στους άντρες του Ηρακλή.
Ο Ηρακλής ανακάλυψε τι έγινε και πιστεύοντας ότι η φιλοξενία των Αμαζόνων ήταν
ψεύτικη σκότωσε την
Ιππολύτη. Έπειτα άρχισε να ρίχνει τα φαρμακερά βέλη του σκοτώνοντας πολλές Αμαζόνες.
Πήρε την ζώνη από την νεκρή βασίλισσα και με τους άντρες του έφυγαν για την
Τίρυνθα.
